Admission Guidelines for High School Football Games
To minimize safety and security issues at high school football games, students younger than high school age must have an adult present with them to be admitted to games.
There does not need to be a one-student to one-adult ratio, but students must have an adult in attendance with them (ex: one adult could bring several students). Students who come to the gate without an adult will not be admitted. A section will be designated for middle school students at games, as well.
This practice will allow us to maintain a safe and orderly environment and allow for the safe enjoyment of our student activities for all in attendance. Thank you for your cooperation.

Resident Participation
The St. Joseph School District allows resident students who are educated through a home school, Family Paced Education school, or virtual school to participate in district athletics, fine arts, and certain cocurricular activities, as outlined in Board Policy IGDAA.
Resident Participant students must meet the same eligibility, academic, conduct, financial, health, and participation requirements as enrolled students, including applicable Missouri State High School Activities Association rules. Additional coursework, rehearsals, practices, or training may be required when directly connected to participation.
Participation is a privilege, and all requirements must be met in order to remain eligible. Please review the full policy and complete the required participation form here.
Student Accident Insurance

The St. Joseph School District has selected the Student Insurance Plan from K&K Insurance to make student accident insurance coverage available to parents.
Coverage may be purchased at any time during the school year by visiting their website at http://www.studentinsurance-kk.com. Please note this insurance is provided by a third-party organization with no affiliation to the SJSD.
Synthetic Turf & Track Facility Use Policy
All facility use must comply with SJSD operational procedures, Board Policy KG (Community Use of District Facilities), and manufacturer/installer warranty requirements for installed athletic surfaces (including synthetic turf systems and rubberized track systems). Activities that jeopardize warranty coverage, drainage performance, surface integrity, or base structure are prohibited and may be suspended at SJSD’s discretion.

Facility Control & Authority
Saint Joseph School District (SJSD) controls, operates, and maintains the athletic improvements, including the synthetic turf field and track system.
All policies governing access, use, scheduling, maintenance, and closure of the facility are administered by SJSD.
District students, teams, classes, practices, competitions, and scheduled events always have priority over public use.
Public Access Policy
Public access to the synthetic turf and track facility is permitted only during the public access season and within posted operating hours.
Public Access Season:
- March 15 – October 31 (weather permitting).
Winter Closure:
- November 1 – March 15 (winterization, freeze/thaw conditions, and surface protection).
Operating Hours (Public Use):
- 7:00 AM opening time applies only when school is not in session.
- Facility closes prior to darkness. No public lighting is provided.
Posted Seasonal Closing Times (Public Use):

Users must vacate the facility immediately upon request of district personnel.
Track Surface — Use Standards
Permitted:
- Walking and running in appropriate athletic footwear.
- Strollers with non-abrasive rubber wheels.
Track Spikes (Clarification):
- Track spikes are not permitted for general public use.
- Track spikes may be worn only during SJSD-approved athletic practices, competitions, or school activities.
- If spikes are used for an SJSD-approved activity, the only spike permitted on the track surface is 0.0 - 3/16-inch (4.8 mm) maximum pyramid spikes.
- Needle spikes, Christmas tree spikes, and any spike longer than 3/16 inch are prohibited.
- Track spikes are strictly prohibited on the synthetic turf field.
Prohibited:
- Cleats of any kind.
- Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, or wheeled equipment/vehicles.
- Heavy equipment, dragging sleds, or surface-damaging activity.
- Adhesive tape, chalk, paint, or markings not approved by SJSD.
- Food, gum, sunflower seeds, or glass containers on the track surface.
- Snow or ice removal by unauthorized persons.
Fisher Track Warranty (Standard For All SJSD Track Locations)
The rubberized synthetic track surface installed by Fisher Tracks is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship for five (5) years following installation.
- Warranty applies only to track surfacing materials and installation performed by Fisher Tracks.
- Deterioration resulting from misuse, abuse, or activities inconsistent with track and field use is excluded.
- Deterioration caused by damage to the underlying asphalt or concrete base (including cracking, shifting, vegetation intrusion, or water accumulation beneath the surface) is excluded.
- Striping is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship; normal fading due to regular use is expected and excluded.
Track Maintenance & Preservation Standards (Fisher Tracks)
- Vegetation control: Maintain a vegetation-free edge and control growth along the track perimeter to prevent root intrusion and base damage. Use approved systemic vegetation control products; petroleum-based sterilants are prohibited.
- Water management: Prevent irrigation overspray onto the track surface. Maintain drainage so water does not accumulate along the inside edge.
- Vehicles/equipment: No motorcycles, bicycles, horses, maintenance vehicles, or heavy equipment on the track. If equipment must cross the track, approved track crossover mats must be used.
- Wear management: Rotate practice lanes, starts, and hurdle/relay locations to distribute wear (lanes 1–2 typically experience the most traffic).
- Surface protection: Do not drag bleachers/equipment across the track; do not use the track as a staging or storage area; do not fuel equipment on the track surface; promptly address petroleum spills.
- Base maintenance: Repair cracks in underlying asphalt promptly using compatible crack sealing materials to prevent moisture infiltration and base failure.
Synthetic Turf Field — Required Protections
Permitted:
- Athletic shoes or molded rubber cleats only
- Water only in sealed containers
- SJSD-authorized practices and events only
Prohibited:
- Metal cleats of any kind

Warranty-related performance provisions include:
- Defects in material and workmanship
- Vertical drainage without ponding (minimum 15 inches per hour for the turf system)
- Average G-Max not to exceed 150 during the warranty period provided proper maintenance is performed
- Seam integrity for the life of the warranty

Any suspected warranty issue must be reported to SJSD immediately so SJSD can provide timely written notice to the manufacturer as required.
G-Max & Maintenance Protection
Proper maintenance is required to preserve playability and warranty coverage.
SJSD will maintain the surface through routine procedures such as:
- Grooming and infill redistribution
- Compaction monitoring and corrective maintenance
- Debris removal and contamination prevention
- Documentation of maintenance activities
Drainage Protection
Organized Activities & Rentals
All organized practices, camps, leagues, clubs, or group activities require prior SJSD approval and scheduling.
